As a dealer tech, I can tell you that probably 98% of all aftermarket warranties are junk.
GMPP is the best for making things work smoothly.
I get tired of seeing my customers suffer because they "saved so much money" buying an aftermarket warranty.

Just my $.02

I agree but there has to be some good after market warranty companies out there. Its actually not for my GM car that I am looking for the extended warranty so it will have to be an after market company.

One Source Auto Warranty is the best I've dealt with. Bought a 6yr/100K mile warranty for my 2000 Chrysler LHS. Used it quite frequently and actually paid for the warranty 3 times over. There is an issue if your service center doesn't follow "average" hourly charges or "average" parts retail. If they charge over the average it's your dime. I was able to negotiate with the dealer in every instance so never paid a penny. They also cover rental cars, vacation interuption, etc. Very good policies for very little dough (comparatively speaking).

Do you have their web address?

Most manufacturers offer an in house extended warranty on their product.
It's not cheap usually but the car still has to be under the factory warranty to buy it. GMPP is the same way. Sorry I didn't understand what you are looking for.
Use the internet to do some research on warranty companies but be careful when buying a warranty online.

I don't know personally of any good ones, but I know of a few bad ones.
We had 2 that were really bad when I lived in CA. STAR and INDS I think were the names of them. I cringed whenever I saw it on a workorder.

Good luck to you in your search. If I hear of anything I'll post back.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. My wifes mother had a 1999 VW Beetle that she loved but and she got in an accident and since she did not have full coverage and there were no witnesses the insurance company only paid out at 50%. I am going to take that 50% around $3500 and add the balance to buy her a replacement.

I found 2 itentical cars including the same color but both are out of factory warranty with 54k miles and another with 72k miles. Since he is on a limited budget I wanted to pickup an additional warranty so that if something happens down the line she wont have to lay out any money to fix it.

I have American Auto Warranty on my 2000 STS, and have had it since August 2003. I have used it MANY times and only paid a $50 deductible, no hassles. They've paid for a fuel pump, crank sensors, new ignition lock and key and rear window motor. That right there is over half what I paid for the warranty, and I still have two years and 28k miles left!

Anyone has experience with Warranty Direct? I was offered the GMPP ( I guess) warranty when purchasing my CTS and declined it. carbuyingtips.com recommends WarrantyDirect or 1AutoSource.com...
By the way I have ordered the VIN Etching Kit and it only took me 15 minutes to get it done... 25 bucks delivered to my door. The Dealerships charge 250 bucks for the same thing... don't get me wrong, they need to make a profit, but that is a rip off!:nono:

I'm buying a used Trailblazer and decided to buy GMPP because I got tired of aftermarket warranties that cover whatever they want when they feel like.. besides you deal with a monkey that was upgraded to manager that will pickup the phone only when he is not too busy and watch out all those aftermarkets warranties have a cap! So if your engine breaks they may only cover $3000 when a new engine is like $10000

Bye
