good morning guys.
I have a lead on bassani, magnaflow, gibson, flowmaster.

I love the throaty sound from the mashing of the pedal.. I want to keep the low torque roar I hear inside, and want a good exhaust to compliment that. One that is tame at idle and at pampering, but one that awakens when requested but that does not cause too much disturbing resonance in the cab. Has a borla on my 99 vette and at highway speed is was disturbing.

these are all cat-back. is it worth the money, is it all sound or is there any noteworthy hp gains? I have K&N. Do headers (straight bolt on if they exist) add to that awsome rumble? or is it all the exhaust.

I loved nothing more than the sound of the C5R.

Magnaflow FTW! You will probably see little to no gains from a CAI and Catback though.

is it the headers? or the exhaust for the sound or hp. IS there a setup that is all bolt on or must the cats be replaced? What gives the deep throaty rumble under hard accel?

Cat-Back is just sound, Headers are sound and HP. Any long tube headers you get will need the cats replaced but most of the long tube headers come with high flow cat replacements. I would say the EASIEST swaps would be B&B Headers/cats witb B&B Catback or Kooks Headers/cats with Corsa Catback.

I think that when I added headers my WOT got a little more high pitched then it did when I just had the cat-back.

You won't duplicate the sound of a C5R unless you shorten the overall length and go to three inch headers (B&B).

I wouldn't look for serious HP gains from the exhaust, but it will come in handy when you do engine mods.

I went from stock to CORSA.

Then B&B headers (orig shorter type with cats) to CORSA.

Then B&B headers (LT newer type), no cats + X pipe full exhaust system

WHOO HOO!, but stopped three times and ticketed once (excessive noise).

Then B&B headers (LT) + cats + resonator (swapped out X pipe).

Sounded ok and I got looks + no Johnny law stopping me.

Current: replaced the resonator with the X pipe.

WHOO HOO! (but I watch my WOT's now). :cloud9:

i've listened to many (rather crappy) audio clips on youtube and I think the borla suonds the smoothest and deepest.. i had the splitfire on my 99 vette hardtop... loved it except the awful resonance at about 2000 rpm - 6th on highway - go fig.. thoughts? headers at to throatyness? woth the $ ?

If you are just looking for a better sound get RT high flow cats and a catback and don't waste your money on headers. $1200 plus tuning is a LOT of $$$ for a sound increase.

thanks heavy ! the points are well taken.. must look at the whole system. If cats are included with headers then will any cat back work at that point? or will there be welding of the sort? I think I want to stick to the eepnedd of the borla. have you herad the audio. try ctsv borla on you tube it is a red V, all the others seem too sound too hollow and not rich. of course the quality of the recordings is subjective.

thanks ALL
BN

wow.. look at Jon go! noticed a peck of body roll. Do you have a set of hotchkis sways on that thing or not? Anyone feel that stiffer sways hurt in any way?

i had a set on a 2000 GTP grand prix. and it was a new vehicle after that. That thing would stay level on any curve. They a little pricey for the CTSV about $400. Wonder if there is much differece over the stock...hmmm:hmm:

+1 on the FULL BB system but if you dont want to drop 2large+ on an exhaust.. a hacked up stock exhaust with flow masters and X-pipe sounds great. I think using the stock 2.5'' mandrel bent exhaust is the way to go unless your upgrading to 3''. i have only seen one vid of a :v: with this setup but it sounds like a beast..

If I was going to do it over again, I would do what shadybx7 said about changing the stock exhaust with an x-pipe and the delta flowmasters, but with some headers.

I have Kooks w/o Cats, X-pipe, Corsa's, but it had resonance around 1500-2k. It sounded awesome outside/inside, like an old school muscle car, but it was very loud. I ended up adding exhaust cones to quite it down and it removed the resonance. I must be getting old!

Video of my old LS2 through the Zoomers. I love this exhaust set up. I makes awesome noises & gets tons of random stranger praise
