Yes, the exhaust system is heating up those areas. If I have to travel long distances with a soft cooler I will take a few layers cut up cardboard box and put it under the cooler. That helped keep the cooler cool in my Suburban.
EXCESSIVE HEAT inside floor area above muffler
After 3 hour drive (heavy traffic stop & go) arriving at destination, noticed excessive heat on the carpet area between captains
seats and behind those seats , also heat on the 3rd row seat head rests (seat in flat position). This location is directly above the muffler & also noted the metal heat shield was intact, this heat shield system (w/o padded materials) seems to be insufficient to
dissipate the muffler heat.. Vehicle 2015i ESV 4wd 1600 mi Engine temp=normal Outside temp=85* Solutions ??
