Hey guys, I'm thinking about purchasing an extended warranty for my 02 escalade and I'm wondering what are some of the more reliable warranties out there at a decent price. I was quoted 3 year/36,000 for 2600.00. I thought it seemed kinda high but I dont know. I just don't want to end up with a warranty that sucks. My escalade has 88K on it by the way.

1. I hear that third party warranty companies go belly up at the rate of about 10 or 12 per year.
2. Most service advisors and service mgrs will tell you that they are not worth the paper they are printed on.
3. You can verify that last statement.

Do a search here and on the Corvette forum.

I compared cadillacextendedwarranty.com and they are only $25 cheaper on all Major Guard warranty prices from my local Caddy dealer

Anyone able to negotiate with them or have any feedback?

Black Pontiac Chevy (located in PA) sells GMPP extended warranties for cheaper than I've found anywhere else for anywhere in the country. We bought it for my wife's (lifted) H2 and have actually used it successfully for something I thought would have been voided by the aftermarket add-ons. ANyway, I'm about to take the plunge on my Escalade just before I hit 36,000 miles (the prices jump and the coverage period drops). I'd highly reccomend them!!!

I personally would only get the GM extended warranty, you know they will be there in the upcoming years, too many stories of warranty companies going out of business.

I purchased my GM extended warranty from Black Pontiac. I paid less than $1000 for coverage up to 6 years 85k miles. This was for an 04 Z-71 Avalanche. I was going to buy one for my ESV but found out through the dealer that Im covered for 10 years 100k miles. Thank you previous owner!

Hey Boatmanea --

I agree w/Black -- I had them quote my '04 Avalanche and they were a couple hundred less than the nearest other online seller. On your Escalade, what was the price difference after you hit 36K? I'm looking at an '05 w/about 34K, and am wondering if it would be worthwhile to extend now or wait.

Thanks, Mike

I just faxed my app in to Black Pontiac/GM. My 2003 Escalade has 49,985 on it! The break point is 36,000 - 50,000 if you want it cheaper. If you want to extend and are under 36,000 I suggest you wait until the 35,500 and then fax in the app. to get the biggest bang for your buck. GM will not extend after 50,000 and I just slid in. I went with the 3yr/36,000.

I saved over $500 from my local Caddy dealer by going with Black and they have been great so far. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks to all who recommended Black!
