There are several small tiny lights that would light up the switches on my 1999 Escalade dash, such as the 4X4 and fog light switch and rear hatch switch along with some in my stereo that are burnt out. Are these replaceable? or do I need to buy a new switch to light them back up? I took the switches apart to look at them, but they seem soldered onto the small circuit boards.

I am 99% sure those are serviced by replacing the switch.
Most switch backlights are these days.
Like you said, they solder the bulbs right on to the switch boards inside the switches.

Yeah, you gotta replace the switches. Sucks!

I have two lights out on my head-unit, the stabilitrack light out, and the tranny temperature light in the cluster. Thats 4 lights out. To fix the bulb problem, Im looking at spending $1500 ! You would think with such a common problem they would make the shit with LED's or easliy replaceable bulbs.

Im crossing my fingers that my steering wheel lights dont go out.

That's Crazy! I find it surprising that GM would do that with lights that burn out in 4 or 5 years. My job in the Marine Corps is an electronic technician, so I am going to tear one apart and get replacement bulbs at Radio Shack. I'll post the RS part number and directions as I master each switch. Maybe I'll even buy a few used ones on eBay and start an exchange/repair service.

I agree completely, it's crazy.
I would love to replace the bulbs if it were possible, but GM just makes it that way. Not sure why.
I have seen some that the bulbs were removable on, but there is no way to get them.
