I bought my 83 deville for 2500 the engine and everything else is in good shape i went to a mechanic who said it should last a long time but the power locks do not work and the speedometer and what tells how many miles you have gone doesn't work. Does anybody have an idea what i can do to fix these problems.

I would start by checkingyourspeedometer cable to see if it is working properly. As far as the locks, I would start with a test light to see if you are gettingpower to the switch, etc.

The speedo cable is probably broken, which is a fairly easy fix. The guy who sold me my 78 knew the speedometer cluster internals were broken so he melted the speedo cable and claimed that was it... what a douchebag... sorry just venting.

For the power door locks do they make any noise when you press the button? If they do then you probably just have to take the door panel off and oil them. If they don't do anything at all a lot of the time that's because some wires get broken between the door and the car. Or there could just be something wrong with the switch or it got disconnected.
