I havent driven or been in an Eldorado but the review seemes reasonable to me.
He points out good things about the dash and the engine and so on.
He points out that the platform its based on is old and as such it probably doesn't match the driving and ride experience of a car based on a much newer platform. I like older cars, they have more character, but I have to admit that the newer the car is the better it is, dynamically.

I wish they did make an Eldorado nowadays, an updated one, as being single means I don't need 4 doors and seats but I like the luxury and big car ride.

It all reminds me of "The Penalty of Leadership" taken from the Cadillac Motor Car Division appearing in the Saturday Evening Post January 2nd, 1915 issue. Every time one of the "experts" writes something like this, I get out my owner's manual and re-read the above. The tradition of excellence began long before any of us was around.......and continues. It is on page iii of the manual, by the way, for any who have never read it. It is worthy of your time.

I completely disagree, and this guy really knows how to deflate a good thing.

What do you guys think?

I think he's not with it.

There is just as much content in that article to agree with as there is to disagree.

Admittedly, there was little NEW in the 2002 Eldorado's which actually fell behind the Seville with respect to upgrades, but we all know the end result for both models.

The article was (updated) 10/15/2003 better than a YEAR after the last Eldorado's rolled off the assembly line. So who is the perspective audience? Used car buyers? I seriously doubt there were any NEW Eldorado's in dealer stock more than one year after final production.

I really don't believe that a used car buyer looking at Eldorado's, cares one way or another, about the few short comings the author expressed. How many retired (as the author pointed out retired) businessmen or businesswomen really care about the depth of the cupholder? The buyer is more concerned with price and possible ownership of a Cadillac.

Ok so the Eldo is not a 100% prefect ..what car is ? . When we are driving and get stop at a red light most eyes are on our Eldo (1994).Seems all the other cars look sooo much a like these days .Our Eldo with a few mods ..is a blast to drive lower 1 inch ..very good tiers..hydro Edges by Michlien . And we love the 2 doors .And we get 23+ miles per on the hiway as long a we behave :). The Eldo is good to us on our trips to Tampa 85 miles and to the East side of Florida 175 miles so we have no problem with the ride at all .
Would love to see the writers favorit cars!!! just our 2 cents

That in essence is what I wrote. The people who bought or are about to buy an Eldorado could care less about the short comings. They are more interested in the afford-ability of driving a Cadillac.

I didn't read it from that perspective. I read it from the perspective of him reviewing it back in 2002. While he did say some good things, the overall tone is -- sorry to see it go--but you won't miss it since it sucked.

Sure today, it's a used car.

Siametarq, you are obviously intelligent much beyond your years.....thanks for the effort on the post and enjoy the ride in that 98 SLS!
Thank you for the kind words. :yup: I just had to post, because some, like myself, may find it too cold to run out to grab the owners manual.

it is an excellent read!
