Effect of Corsa and More Perf. intake??

749 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  v-ape
I have a Corsa exhaust on my V which I love but and looking to add a More Performace intake. What kind of seat of the pants and real world hp can I expect??

How about the sound?

No SOTP from Corsa. Great sound though.

I'd stear clear on the More CAI. First they are out of business, so you'd have to score a used one. Second, they are out of business for a reason. It certainly wasn't that they made a crappy CAI, but it did/does have a tendancy to cut a hold through the air filter at the airbox connection, allowing unfiltered air into your intake :rant2: .

I like my LPE. Other prefer to stay stock. I've seen the volant, and would go back to stock rather than use one of those.

SOTP dif? A whole lot!

In reality? Not measurable.

why do you say that?

I had a Volant and am now back to stock. "Gains" IF ANY didn't justify the cost in my case.

To me it appears to be a reincanation of the stock airbox, with an inferior design, with a tiny K&N filter stuffed inside it. If I wanted that I'd stick with the stock airbox, and get a K&N cartridge filter. Also, I saw one on the dyno, and at WOT, the top cover moves around like crazy. I'm surprised no one has cracked one yet. Finally, they are expensive and look gay to me :D.

As an aside, we all know that Rander thinks any Intake mods are crap. I think of them as small supporting mods. The more you change, and open up the intake and exhaust, the better all these mods work together.

A stock LS6 V dyno's at approx 320 rwhp. Mine with LPE CAI, replacement squeeze tube, Ported TB, Headers + cats, Corsa and conservative tune (i.e. < 12.9 A/F) net's 370 on a mustang Dyno. According to his thinking, the only Mods that make HP are Headers and Tune. No way you're gonna get 50 Rwhp from just that.

My $0.02,

Chris

I got the same set up and no "holes" in my intake, your mileage may vary. As for performance gains, I dont know because they came with the car. I do like the sound, and the ever so slight weight savings in the hood.

The sound of the corsa is reason enough to get it IMO.
