Opened the rear driver side window the other day and was blasted by an eardrum piercing low frequency whomp, whomp, whomp, sound that penetrates right into your head. Opening either front window does not reproduce sound. All tires in good condition, no flat spots.
Anyone else ever experience this?

A lot of cars do that. In order to reduce the noise, you need to open the opposite window in the front. But it's also dependent on by how much you opened each window. You'll have to play around with the openings to get it just right.

It's called buffeting. It's caused by the aerodynamics of your car and of course the direction of the wind vs the direction you are driving + speed you are traveling. Some cars have it way worse than ours.

For example:

I have experienced it myself in that car and it truly is as bad as everyone says it is.
