1988 deville, had EGR replaced by neighbor mechanic. How can I check if the TPS was correctly installed? I get E55 and smog inspection failed running way too rich.

If I move the throttle it moves the TPS. Shouldn't the TPS move the throttle not the throttle move the TPS?

The throttle moves the TPS. The TPS relays that info back to the PCM which then regulates the TB injector pulse width.

Thanks. Just trying to figure out why smog went from HC 78 to HC 192 and CO 0.97 to CO 6.42 when changed the EGR.

I had E52 & E55. Reset them, then drove 6 miles on the somewhat crowded freeway and codes didn't come back. Still have some smell of raw gas.
