I don't know how often Cadillac has been releasing updated CTS Nav disks, but Zenrin, (the map OEM) has been releasing them each year. They're up to version 6.4 and are MUCH cheaper to buy. Going from my old 5.1 disks to 6.3, my street is now show correctly, even though it's been there for 20 years. The 6.4 version adds much expanded coverage for Canada.

They sell both CD's and DVDs. While copying copyrighted material is obviously not condoned here, it is a double sided DVD-R, which has something like 8 GB of data on it. There is no where to download it, but you'll need a double sided DVD burner to make a 'backup' copy. There are posts on which software works best and which doesn't (over in the V forum, I think).

You'll have to order the disk directly from Zenrin, as they don't have downloads, but at only $190 for a DVD with free shipping, it's a bargain compared to the Cadillac disk. They currently have a 4 week backlog, though.

You may also be able to buy someones older disks, who've upgraded. EBay is another option.

which disk is the one i need? i am assuming the infinity, but which one of those? also if anyone wants to "backup" their disk and let me "borrow" it to see what it is like with a new revision of the maps that would be awesome. or if someone wants to make an image of it and host it i could try it like that( and of course destroy the disk after i have seen what it is like, haha).

You'll need to select "DVD based navigation unit - for all other Infinity owners". The web site will ask for a VIN. I went to EBay and found a G35 for sale and used that VIN. I'm not sure why they need it.

Nope. I think the CTS and SRX are similar, but the other Caddy Navs are different. Cadillac does have newer disks out (than my early O3 disks) but I don't think they're as new as Zenrins.

The SRX also uses a different Navigation system. No other Cadillac disks besides the CTS ones will work in a CTS.

How hard is it to get the CD's? Im considering getting the NAV CD Version, I have the 03 so it would match my interior and I think I can get one cheaper than the DVD. My only concern is getting the discs, can I buy them from the dealer?

Also is there anything other than the DVD playing DVD movies over the CD one? If the CD NAV is substantialy less and it matches my dash would it make more sense to get CD?

I've retrofitted both in my car. Other than the obvious black vs pewter color, the biggest difference is that the DVD has the whole country on one disk and will play movies (I don't watch movies in my car). The CD version will have a multi-state area on one disk, which works just fine. You don't need the whole country if you don't drive across it. Zenrin also makes updated CDs.

The DVD Nav is also twice as fast. Recalculating a well traveled route used to take about 25 seconds in the CD Nav, and now takes about 15 in the DVD nav.

Also, the CD nav is pre-XM, so it doesn't have the necessary menu's to add XM later.
