Dumb Nav question...

622 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  -uplink-
Are the V Nav systems also DVD movie players? If so, do they have that safety feature that you can't play movies while the car is in motion? Has anyone circumvented this?
On the Avic-N1 deck in my Vette all I had to do was rewire the parking brake lead and movies will play any time.
This isn't for me but for the passengers to keep their eyes off my driving. :hide:

There is a method, or code to put in. I belive it is in the FAQ's.......check it out. Either way, you CAN do this.
Good call. Thanks I found it:

Though it almost seems like it would be easier to just wire in a switch to the e-brake lead under the dash and throw it whenever you wanted to watch a movie.

On the plus side you can do it. On the Avic-N2's they integrated the G-meter, Nav tracking and speed sensor into the security so if the car is determined to be moving over 5mph the DVD is disabled. :ill:

In the Avic? I don't have a DVD writer but I can borrow a few copied movies if you want me to test them.

I went to this page: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/index.html
and just typed DVD in the search bar. Hit enter and wait a minute or two. It will come up as the 6th result. I thought it wasn't working the first time too, it just takes a minute.
