Anyone upgrade to dual exhaust?

I got a thing for it. It cam factory on my Town Car.
My 90 Brougham has new single exhaust, but i want dual. I dont want to hack the new stuff out, but rather add another line or splice off the single somewhere and go that way.

Its not a performace up grade, though dual from the motor should add atleast 10 hp, its more looks to me.

Like at idle i think it looks weird with only one pipe. When a car with dual is idleing and it puffs white smoke out it looks better in my books.

I dont want Flowmasters or anything, just a 2nd pipe.

you can always split the pipe..the big questions are where and how. Last I checked, they sell various splitters junctions and connectors at most auto parts stores.
Going for comspetics only, you could always split the pipe after the rear wheel...itd probly be easiest. I wouldnt expect any kind of proformance upgrades from this. you could split the pipe before the rear wheel and mirror the other side so it clears the rear axel. That would be a little harder than the previous way while still requiring little modification.Of course, everyone will probly give you a nice pat on the back if you ran true dual exhausts. You could probly get a cat and muffler pretty cheap from a junkyard. Running the pipe like this would require you to prettymuch scrap the front half of the original exaust. Youd probly want the car on a lift and a mandrel bender...and probly a little fabrication know how to make this work right though. But like you said..your looking at it mostly for cosmetics..so the first way i mentioned may be best. In any case, good luck

If you have a chevy motor in your car it shouldnt be that hard to fab a exhust from another vehicle like a chevy pickup or chevy van. I seen some with wider pipes but it would require prolly shortning the exhaust pipe just a tad. The looping bend is GM standard it appears almost on all cars of the same year or back. Someone posted that they used Camaro shortie headers and ran dual exhaust back.

What the heck does the engine have to do with the exhaust system? :hmm:

But to answer the question, I'd say you can do all kinds of things since there's a ton of room under the car to play with. 1 into 2 mufflers, splitter pipes, they'll all work. Take it to a Midas or Mufflex shop and get them to do it for you. If it costs you more than a couple hundred, I'd be surprised.

Hey Adhood. I saw your ride. Nice color. Just wondering what are the wheel covers you have on that thing. If you are interested in the real caddy wire wheel covers i may have a set off my 1987 that would fit that i could sell to you for a great price. Let me know

Just Y the pipe after the cat (100% legal in all states) and run duals. Probably use a 94-96 muffler if quiet suits your taste. Man is that exhaust quiet. I can walk by mine and barely tell it is running. I don't mind louder, but it is a Cad....

It is loud, but that's by choice. I have flowmaster 40 series mufflers. At first I didn't like the sound. But now that it is winter and the Caddy is in the garage, I have loud growl fever. LOL. I just miss the rumble it produces.
