I purchased and installed a 2011 Lucerne VCIM (PN 22796947), everything is working well. Omac said he recommends getting a unit pulled from a DTS so first responders know they are looking for a DTS, not an Impala or other vehicle.

Another post on this topic points out that without the GPS signal, OnStar doesn't know where you are located. If I understand the post correctly, to get GPS into the new unit, we need to purchase a EL-49903-3 adapter. This adapter should be a $5 part from Radio Shack, but is priced at $85 through GM.

Does anyone have additional information? I don't plan on getting OnStar, but don't want to find out Omac is stuck in a ravine somewhere because we didn't pursue this issue.

BTW: I followed these instructions to upgrade my 06 DTS, everything went smoothly:

Order OnStar VCIM Module # 22864568 / 22796947 /22739392 & GM Bluetooth Antenna #15938939

The module is behind the rear seat, passenger side. remove carpet covered plastic panel that covers the rear seat (from the trunk side). (2) 10mm nuts hold the module to the brace behind the seat. Unplug the old OnStar module, (MAKE SURE YOUR KEY IS OFF AND RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER IS OFF !, leave drivers door open, mount the new module and plug in the 2 white connectors and the 1 black connector. The new module has only 3 connectors, your original OnStar Module had 2 white and 2 black connectors. Plug in only the BLUE wire connector and the Bluetooth antenna (the yellow wire the was plugged into the old module is no longer used. Turn key on, press voice button on steering wheel for 2 seconds, radio says ready, say "Bluetooth", the say "pair" and connect your cell phone. YOU ARE NOW HANDS FREE!!

Voice dial by name:
First activate using the phone button on steering column. Then say "hands free calling." Then say "store" and it will take you through the procedure. Must have your phone hooked up in Bluetooth and need to add each number individually.

Thanks for posting, been trying to find the thread on this but haven't had any luck....just a bunch of older info or vague mentions. Couple questions:

PN 22796947 plugs right in, no flashing required?

Does your 06 have the factory navigation screen? If not, do you know whether the part # you posted would work with the factory nav in my car?

22796947 plugs right in, Bluetooth pairing failed the first time, second time was a charm.

I am tooling around in a budget DTS and don't have a factory navigation screen, one of our high rolling DTS partners will need to cover that one. Another unanswered question involves OnStar integration, I am too cheap to pay for OnStar, but if I did have OnStar, I would want the app integration allowing me to remotely start my car. The clicker works from my living room, but not from the back of the house.

Thanks. I don't care about OnStar, but Bluetooth phone would be nice.

Based on information I found on a Camaro forum, I ordered cable 23420189 & splitter 20960972. We will see how things go. $30 on ebay.

Unfortunately the remote start feature from onstar isn't offered on our cars. Same with the door unlock feature.

cable 23420189 & splitter 20960972 don't work. I am happy with what I have: Bluetooth dialing and speakerphone. GPS isn't relevant to my situation.
