If my memory serves correctly my V has always had drivetrain clunks but never so consistantly. So I took her in to get my FG2's installed and to look for what's making that damn clunking noise. Turns out that my rear diff. isolator mount was broken. They called me and said that there was a broken bushing and would have one overnighted. What ever, now my car drives like it was supposed w/o any unusual sounds. Here is what was on the invoice:

Is this clunk you're speaking of the one you get while driving and pressing on the clutch to take it out of gear? That is about the only time I hear it in my V. Don't get me wrong, it's very loud and annoying.:hmm:

The infamous "parade clunk" sounds like it comes from the tranny area. I know what a loose rear dif sounds like and there is a big difference. Parade clunk usually only happens under low throttle applications while a loose bolt would practically happen all of the time.

My clunk occured every time I drove the car. Every time I switched gears, smoothly or aggressively I would get a clunk. The noise got so bad I would try and change gears at the lowest possible RPM to try and minimize the clunking.

The Clunk we hear is from a Dual Mass fly wheel. Ya It sucks, I hate it to and will probably sell the V because of it, it will clunck until we change the Flywheel, Clutch, and Pressure Plate,
It drive me crazy so I turn up the radio.

Again, I ask - "What clunk?" Or don't I drive "aggressively" enough or have the radio loud enough? I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but I keep hearing quotes like those above and I'm at a loss as to what they are talking about. As I've stated earlier, I know of two other V'S in my area - none have clunks or differential whines. I guess we're just not doing high enough launches or long enough burn-outs. After I ordered my '05 back in April of 2004 I almost cancelled it after reading complaints on this forum. I'm glad I didn't .... my V has delivered everything to me that it advertised, and I'm glad I have one! Will something jump up and bite me someday? Probably, but then the same could have happened should I have purchased a BMW or Mercedes. And, by the way, if I wanted a drag racer I would have kept my '99 Trans-Am.

Sorry I'm ranting, but it's early Monday morning and I just am not in the mood for "V" bashing, I guess, so let the flames begin.

No actually there are two problems. with mine First the two half shafts .. the bushing that conects them clunks. and the diff bushing are failing. lets the diff move, and actually hit the under body, when on and off throttle a little hard. and . the half shaft noise.. I can live with that, but the diff coming loose Is scary
