I need to replace the forward driveshaft coupler on my '04 CTS. Searching this forum, I found some old posts talking about revshift and creative steel brands. Can anyone provide a some more current feedback or even step by step instructions? Is it absolutely necessary to raise the front and rear of the car? Are there different sizes? Special tooling? Any and all info is appreciated. My CTS is a 3.2l/5-Speed manual with 99K miles.

Thanks!

You're best bet is to raise the whole car and drop the exhaust and drive shaft.

Because there is a metal piece that goes from the transmission to the drive shaft. It is hidden by the coupler. Mine were replaced by not removing the exhaust or drive shaft. That was a costly mistake. Because this horrible vibration came about. So the shop did it again, but the correct way and vibration was gone.

Are you talking about the bushings at each bolt location? Also, where is the shim? I had a local shop service my transmission and they told me there was only one bolt left and quoted $200 for parts and another $100 for labor. Thanks.
