Hey folks! I must confess I'm a newbie here and not much of a mechanic (k, not at all) but I was hoping somebody here has some experience with this same issue and can lend me some advice.
Couple days ago the power slider on my '04 Escalade drivers side seat stopped working properly. It didn't stop completely, it will still move about half an inch forward or backwards, but it doesn't have the full range of movement it used to. The motor is still functioning, I can stick my head under there and here it working, but the seat just won't slide more than half an inch. All the other seat controls work fine, I can move it up and down, tilt, and adjust the lumbar support. But then a couple days later somebody else drove it and the switch worked fine! And now it's back to limited movement again. I can't figure it out, and I'm hoping it's not a whole new seat module cause they aren't cheap.
Also, about a month ago the directions on the switch were temporarily reversed. It only happened a couple times, but it makes me wonder is there is maybe a software issue. Is there a way I can do like a soft reset and maybe fix the seat?
Thanks very much in advance for your replies and helping a guy out.

I think it's the switches as mine have reversed on the forward/reverse control yet the memory function works fine(at times)(one point it would be normal in a certain spot then be reversed on further back on the tracks)

I plan on swapping mine with the controls from
My dad's h2 soon as it will help me figure out a issue with his driver's seat which I can barely get into due to it being almost to the steering wheel and only moves a inch back total

I will do that tomorrow if I can and see what happens hopefully the entire issue is in the controls as mine has been doing this for three years(and it's getting annoying big time)

My memory function works fine too, except for the slide. It sounds like I have a combination of the problem you and your dad have. I'm not so concerned about the reversing direction, I just want the stupid thing to slide forward so I can reach the pedals!
Let me know how it goes with your repairs! Can you buy an OEM switch? The dealership wants to sell me the whole package and honestly I'm running out of arms and legs to give them.

James I just found out both trucks are now showing the same issue with the aid bolster so swapping the controls wouldn't help(bummer)

Sfx group has posted a link to a how-to thread for us and I will be seeing what I can do over the next few days as the seat going nutty is not a fun thing to deal with
