Has anyone taken one of these apart,
On my Mustang, I was able to pull the glass Mirror, off of the assembly,
mine seems to be hesitating on the up down, and turning sideways a little,
prior to going up or down, I thought maybe a little WD-40 could help
the moving pieces, BUT can't seem to get into it.
Thanks :hmm::hmm:

WD-40 has no use on components like these. When you take it apart, you'll find there is a lightweight grease. I have always used dielectric grease on these mechanisms with good results. I've never had the glass of my STS, but the adjuster mechanism is basically the same as my other GM vehicles.

The dielectric grease I use is a semi-clear substance. The white compound you're describing for semi-conductors sounds like heat sink compound and is not what you want. If you go to any auto parts store, ask them for a small tube of dielectric grease. They will know what you want. If you have no luck, I'll try and post a picture of the tube I have.
