Driver side temp control stuck

I searched the forum but wasnt able to find much help on my issue. The temp control on the driver side is stuck at 60 degrees, heated seat button doesnt work, cooled seat button DOES work. The passenger side still works 100%. Ive been told numerous things from my dealership so now im looking for some real help.

I was told the control panel needs to be replaced and this is the part number 25837749. http://www.gmpartsdirect.co/oe-gm/25837749 Is this the correct panel for my car? Am I able to change this out myself or is computer reprogramming required when replacing this?

My car is a 2008 CTS RWD with the performance package, no navigation, heated and cooled seats.

Thanks for any help on this issue.

Good luck big ti-$. :canttalk: Well, you picked the name hehehe
I recall somebody replaced just that button module once and it fixed an issue for them where the AC was having trouble. Let's hope it's that simple for you.
I just checked this thread as I was about to buy the entire panel... I got the driver side switch on ebay for $40... sound like that should fix problem. Fingers crossed!

BriStoller... sound like a more complicated electrical issue that you have going on... I would take it to a dealer
Did this resolve the issue?
What am I looking for as far as part...the switch? (Dealing with a female here lol)
Male or female...it doesn't matter when solving problems.
Perhaps a silly question-- did something recently get spilled near that area ?

No, no moisture at all.

No, absolutely no moisture.
Oh goodness I did not update you on this thread. Weirdest thing but I wasn’t driving it since the heat was stuck on. The battery died so I replaced the battery. As I was sitting in the car letting it run for a bit, I tried the temp gauge it worked. I guess it was something with the battery? Unsure. I haven’t had any issues since. 🤷‍♀️
Glad to hear things have straightened out for you.
Thanks for providing this update.
bad batteries can cause all sorts of seemingly unrelated issues...thanks for the follow up

Bill
I believe the sensitivity to low battery performance is a side effect of the GMLAN system, where button and sensor inputs are mostly data transfer dependent, instead of direct connect voltage changes. Computer code is read in order and when you don't have sufficient power support in that instant, data gets corrupted. I mentioned elsewhere the engine computer gets input directly from the sensors and it transmits data to the BCM, which transmits data to the gauge cluster, which has two green wires for data input and output, but no individual signal wires that I saw on the wiring diagram for direct input to the gauges. So it appears to be a morse code like data transfer that has to be decoded on the receiving end for the proper interpretation, or action.

Glad to hear things have straightened out for you.

Can't thank you enough for the ad free browser link. Nothing makes me realize quicker that I've mistakenly conducted a search in Chrome, than the pop ads, unsolicited videos running in the corner of the screen, and reduced screen viewing as a result of banners and other unwanted garbage.

Most appreciative of all, is the ability to watch a youtube video start to finish without the "foolishness" that nearly doubles the length of what I'm watching.

While it is entirely possible it was nothing more than a battery needing replacement, these cars have a very common alternator failure mode where the alternator is weak, but not completely failed. I would advise anyone who has had a battery failure to check their alternator performance. It's an easy enough check done by monitoring the voltage in the DIC. Read this thread, and this post.

Have a look at: Passenger side Climate Control not working. It's likely you'll find the crappy rubber membrane switch technology is the culprit.
I found used temp control panels (just for the climate control & seats) for $50 on ebay, but I've yet to confirm if you can swap out just that part.. It sounds like you need an entire panel ( radio controls & all)

has both sides
Were you able to get the part separately rather than buying the whole panel? Thank you.

I ended up buying the entire panel on eBay (posted photos on one of the threads here) for about $80 as I recall. Be aware that there are numerous versions for heated seats, ventilated seats, or not etc. I also discovered that it's not all plug n play even though I only needed the temp up / down button modules, their cables were not compatible with the original center module, As a result, I got a new clock, radio display and control buttons and a custom two tone dash, but swapping the entire panel did work just fine. Lots of good info on how to disassemble the dash on the forum and here:
Does anyone have a part number for the driver side temperature control switch? I can seem to find anything. I have a 2012 cadillac cts no Navi

Best luck will be had buying a complete used center stack.
