Just been informed by dealer that my drive shaft needs to be replaced (70000 mi) .
Is Cadillac doing anything?

What is wrong with it? Do you notice any cyclic thumping noises when you drive the car?

The driveshafts don't normally "fail". The carrier bearing rubber usually starts to degrade and fall apart.

There is a guy on the forums that sells replacement driveshafts with upgraded carrier bearings and mounts for a few hundred bucks if you have to replace it.

I've seen a recall on the pinion seal. Also saw a TSB on the flex plate (if your driveshaft is so equipped). I had the dealer repair mine before I bought my car (used) as there were thumping sounds from the differential when I took the test drive.
