What is a good size of drag tire for the STS. Looking to put something on the stock rims kicking around in the shed. would 245/50r16's fit on the stock rim? In which case i think Nitto and BFG make drag radials?

 Drag tires (slicks ???)(grooved radials ???) on a FWD vehicle with traction control and rev limiter ???? The first thing to go will be a $3500 transaxle. Drive it for what it is : A relatively fast, comfortable luxury sedan.

I think mark was running M/T's on his car for a while with the first converter he put in. The car doesn't make enough power to snap axles. Strain on the drivetrain isn't gonna be a whole lot more considering the power level we're dealing with. About 230hp at the wheels isn't enough to cause serious damage running drag radials. I don't see any problem running a set of BF Goodrich or M/T's on the front for a few passes. These cars suffer from MAJOR traction issues, and could use all the help they can get. If your really concerned, go with the BF Goodrich's, they're a little harder compound than the M/T's but will still grip better than your regular street tires.

Are you concerned at all with the mileage you are going to get with the tires?

And it wouldn't be a very good idea to drive with these in the rain too often. Especially the softer compound tires like the M/T's.

Nitto DR - best mileage (but still not great)
BFG DR - mid mileage
M/T DR - poor mileage
M/T ET Streets - even worse mileage

To clear things up im talking drag radials like Nitto's, yes there are shitty in the rain but they would not be permanent tires. Just mount them on the stock rims go have some fun for the day at the track change them off and go home.

 Ah, so! Just for grins and kicks, get a timeslip with the "stock" setup and another with your new tires. Might prove interesting.
