Hi

I have a fairly major size leak in the driver's foot well (high amount of fast rain will make the drivers foot well carpet show water), i also have a smaller leak in the passenger drivers side foot well (its more at the pillar between them, will post picture late).

I think i have worked out how this is possible (with the assistance of internet searching), the door wire boots, theres been a few who have tracked down these leaks to those. Now this would explain how i am getting water in to my drivers door as well and venting at the base somehow on the inside of the door.

I know the drivers foot well is a drip at the door wall kick panel (ive seen it, not had time to pull the plastic), what i couldnt work out was the drivers door (as the sealing plastic is still in place) and the drivers side passenger, however its in an identical location to the drivers foot well just in the back and also lines right up with the door wire rubber boot.

Replacing those will be a pain (if its even possible), i am also willing to bet this will compromise all the electrics in the drivers door (as i would assume its running down a cable in the door) so might not be coincidental with my drivers door mirror / drivers door module not fully working.

Has anyone else seen this problem? (my passenger front might also very slightly "suspect" however need to resolve the above first).

UPDATE

I pulled about 1/16 liter of water from the drivers foot well, the drivers side cable boot has about 1/16 inch play in the hole, its not "sealed" it just a boot pushed in a whole in the chassis, this is a design flaw, i would assume its shrunk!!!!...

Result, i am selling the truck, ive spent about 3K on it this year, it needs another 3k in body work + everything else inside it, there are way to many bad design problems with Cadillac, i am not buying another North America vehicle, my 15+ year old BMW has minor issues, but nothing like snapping door handles or door hinges that wear out to the point you cant close the door, or a dashboard that fails.

As it is i will get Taxi for what i need in the winter months, its cheaper, i will be in pocket.

You have to understand its 10years old
The door seals will start to shrink due to age

I have noticed a small water leak in my 03 around the top of the door but it's only in heavy rain

The door handles I don't know as I haven't had one snap(maybe it's where I ain't as rough on them in the winter)
The wiring grommet you are talking of shouldn't be the cause of the water intrusion it is likely the drains on the bottom of the door are blocked(seen this happen with my grandma's Buick before) after clearing the drains there was a lot of water drain out(the door was half full)

UPDATE

The truck has sold, just a heads up, as i said before these really arnt worth the money they are listed for, i lost more than 30% value in 1 year, was advertised in 5 locations (including eBay and AutoTrader), i had offers of about $1000-4000 for it. Taken 4 weeks to find a buyer who was offering something over $6000.

I am not sure why these are up for over $13000 to be honest. I wish everyone well with ownership, i feel alot better now its gone. It did drive nice when it worked, but the toys and body work seem to fail the drive train.

I also noticed in the past week, the fan blower motor (HVAC) starting to seize up, the Air Ride starting to play up again (the vent valve) and the TPMS wouldnt reset, even though OnStar said all the wheels are ok, the remote locking was very intermittent. The drivers mirror started working once i stopped all the auto settings in the dashboard (like set seat on exit and set drivers memory on entry).

Smart move
It sounded like it had a major electrical issue (likely bcm) given how you described

I am holding out for a 2015 when they get the bugs worked out but I am keeping my 03 as resale value has pretty much tanked given my mileage
Buzz kill is one of the techs at my local dealer wants me to trade it in(I know what he wants to do and that is buy it at the cheaper price)

Ive not seen enough of the trucks to know if they all do this, however when i advertised mine was the only 2004 (all others were newer), i also noticed on eBay they are lowering the prices (which appeared to have less corrosion, i am in south ON, Canada where it snows hard every year though).

I might have landed on my feet with the buyer, right time, right place. I am fairly shocked at the second hand retail of the 2007 being almost 30k still (26-28K book price) thats only 50-60% from new retail. Some of those have corrosion in the identical spot already (in front of the rear wheels).

I am looking at the 2007+ BMW X5's, lucky for me 80% are black (prefer that color), the underside of one i looked at still had writing on the chassis members from the factory, they also have alot of covering under them to stop road water splashing up. They are going for about 17-20k depending on the toys fitted (which is a very hit / miss thing to find what you want).
