My dome lights won't turn on when I open the doors. They will turn on manually and if I turn the dimmer switch. I have read the owners manual and know that the dimmer switch needs to be in the out position for the lights to work when you open the doors. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check the "Poacher Switch" (the Dome Light Over Ride Switch) ? It is right over the Brightness Adjuster (the stem that you use adjust the brightness of the dash lights).

in my 2007 escalade, the brightness adjuster and the dome light over ride switch are the same thing. the owners manual says that as long as this is in the out position the dome lights should work. Unfortunately it does not.

I got it figured out..... there is a button right above the dimmer button. I needed to press that.
