I've been amazed by it too. It should be a violation just like not strapping a toddler in. Just like he says, you don't have time to deal with it and avoid an accident too.
But then I think driving with a cell phone should be illegal too. I'm annoyed and concerned about the driving going on out there while someone's mind is anywhere but on the traffic situation. The proof is in the driving. You can always tell when someone is on a phone just by the wandering, slow response attitude of the car.

Hang up and drive, or as they say on Car Talk "Drive now, talk later" :want:

I wasn't able to view the clip on my computer here at work, but I drive with my dog sometimes and it is definitely a distraction. He jumps all over me and wants to be in and out of my lap. I actually got pulled over once, cop probably thought I was drunk LOL.

As you can tell from my avatar, my dog Hoover likes to ride in the Caddy, but since he's a lab, he's not exactly a lap dog. Occasionally, he'll try to climb up front, but I make him stay in the back seat.

When I first adopted him, I tried to use a dog seat belt harness, but Hoover got all tangled up in it and managed to chew almost completely through the seat belt (different car) in a 15-minute drive.

When I was changing out the fuel injectors Sunday, I put Hoover on a tie-down in my front yard, and twice he managed to climb into the car through the open driver's door window. He REALLY wanted to go for a ride.

I have a Red Setter, two Gordon Setters, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The Setters usually get the back of my Range Rover, with the King CHarles sitting in the front passenger seat, but last Sunday, i got them all in the Eldorado! The Setters had a seat each, and the King Charles went in the front footwell!
They do not get on my lap, the King Charles likes to try, but she knows better now.
