I have a 2004 ESV and have loads of rust on this one brace. Their is no other rust anywhere on my escalade. Has this part been recalled?

I don't and mine is a 03 it looks as if a battery had been there and went bad.

Clogged drain possibly and it's flowing onto the brace allowing water to pool on it? That is really odd since its by the firewall, could possibly be Condensation from AC that causes that as well since the lines are there.

Strange thing is that only that brace is rusted. I haven't seen any water on it.

The inner portion by the fender looks good, maybe try a parts yard and replace it. I still think water is collecting on it. Close the hood and spray the front of the car windshield and check to see if it the vents are plugged which would force water to end up on that brace.

Does anyone know the name of the part? I'm trying to look up a price online and can't find it in any of the diagrams.

So you think it's #13? They don't look the same.

ESV? Isn't that based on the regular chassis trucks? Check and see if that is a common part between all of the GM half-ton trucks. Obviously it was not treated correctly from the part supplier who used a cheap grade coating/paint.

#12 is the correct one a quick touch of something like POR15 on the new one might help prevent this, wouldn't hurt to try it.

They all are based on the truck frames I know my uncle told me(he worked at gm)

No that's not normal. Has anyone got brake fluid on it? coolant? Anything like that? Put some acid on it let it sit for 30 seconds to 1 min scrape it off see if its totally rusted if its not its and easy removal, sand it down spray it with rust inhibiter and have powder coated or spray paint it. Mines 03 and still looks factory I live in Florida on coast and on a dirt road!

My 2004 GMC Sierra and my 03 Denali had the exact same problem. I took it off, sand blasted it, then primered and painted it. No more rust issues.

Get it from a junkyard look at all the tahoe's and half tons till you find one they will probably charge $25-50

Nah. #12 is the piece under it. I'm not even sure it's shown in that photo.

Here is the part that I replaced with a $15 one from the junk yard. I guess GM received some bad parts from the supplier?
