Everyone, the following statements are based on my true life experiences with Atlanta Classic Cars of Deluth, GA.

I have been searching for a V for months, literally. I finally stumbled across one that was close, reasonably priced and what looked to be in good condition. So last week I inquired about this particular V.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=190112744&dealer_id=625980&car_year=2004&search_type=both&make=CAD&model=CTS&distance=300&transmission=Manual&make2=sel_one&address=28210&advanced=y&certified=&max_mileage=&bkms=1128440925983&max_price=&sort_type=priceASC&min_price=&end_year=2004&color=&start_year=2004&drive=&isp=y&engine=8+Cylinder&lang=&fuel=&doors=&cardist=204#vdptop

I was very excited about the car and ready to buy. I called the dealership and spoke with a so-called "salesman". I asked the following questions (his responses included)

-What is the over all condition of the car? - excellent
-How about the interior? - immaculate
-Are there any dings/dents/scratches on the vehicle, because I cannot stomach a car with them. - I looked it over, it looks great.
-How are the tires? - they look good.
-Do you have all the service records/dvd's etc. - Yes i have it all here.
-Do you have any idea with previously owned the vehicle? Was it a mature driver? - Well Matt we are a Mercedes benz dealer, all of our customers are mature drivers, but this car was owned my multi, mutli milionare gentleman, who traded this car in on an E55.

So it sounded like a dream comes true.....so I gave him an offer.

I'll give you 34,500 out the door for it. Nothing more. Please realize I'm taking a whole day out of my weekend to drive down from Charlotte.

-Ok sir you have a deal.

I will be putting 2,000 down, here is my Amex and we will be there at 10-10:30 am Saturday morning.

I think great, so anxiety and delight sets in........Saturday morning 6 am arrives, time to being the trek to pick up my V.

We arrive @ 10:45. The following of events then turns this into the worse trip ever.

1. The car is filthy when I get there. No consideration to even have it detailed.
2. There is a cell phone antenna on it.
3. The tires are BALD, absolutley BALD, down the wear marks
4. The interior is SHIT. The dvd/navigation has scratches on it and looked to have been cleaned with some chemical, The rubberized plastic was worn away in 5 areas.
5. Large scratches on the rear bumper, under the door handles, and 1 on the hood.
6. The brakes were almost gone.
7. The shift knob was totally scratched.
.....

Ok the above was minor compared to the next items. I entertained the guy and took it for a drive.

I turned it on, the seats moved to about 10 inches from the steering wheel, obviously a womans seating, and the DVD flashed "HELLO KELLY" - yes it could be guy, but not with a seat position like that.

- The tranny rattled and clunked through every shift.
- The motor vibrated through the cabin, literally it vibrated your ass
- The motor also sounded like something was wrong with it....by this time i was so pissed I i gave up.

I came back to the dealer. I said, salesguy, why are you trying to F me here, I drove 200 miles to come drive this piece of shit. He tried to keep us there, get us coffee etc. He said whats wrong.....i then told him the above. And that;s about it. I could go into more detailed but the moral of this story is. DO NOT BUY THAT V or ever deal with ATLANTA CLASSIC CARS. thanks.

Sorry dude. That sucks man.

I was worried about the same thing happening to me, since I bought a used car. Sorry you had a bad outcome.

wtf, not only would I have been pissed, I would have talked to his manager and raised hell about the salespersons lies.. Thats total BS. This is why I deal with these things through email, so I have 100 percent proof of anything they say to me.. If I ever got screwed like that, I would make them pay for any expenses for my trip.

Sorry, man, I feel for you. But, to be honest, I wouldn't even trust a salesman's answers to my questions about a car even if the car were sitting 5 feet in front of me. I'd have to see, touch, and verify it myself.

I know man, I was blinded by the prize. I kept saying to myself, ok this is apparently a reputable dealer, being a mercedes benz pre-owned. I was totally wrong. :rant2:

here we go...

for THAT vin.

car was inspected on 1/30/2004

3/01/2005 the right door speaker was replaced

3/1/2005 replace the fuel jumper (fuel rail ) recall I am guessing

3/1/2005 they replaced both front lower control arms..dunno why but, it was covered by the factory.

on 5/13/2005 ticket says STILL OPEN....kinda weird...but..it says "inadvertent driver airbag deploy when ignition key is turned to on position".... Not sure if that is the AIR BAG RECALL...or if the car had/has a problem. Either way, weird wording.

Would you like to know the options? :lildevil:

It has had the lower control arm washer replaced

You mean carfax? Yes I forgot to mention that, I ran it and it came back spotless. This was done before I even called those f'ers.

word to the wise.....I had a 1997 Cobra...I knocked the front end off the car:lildevil: ...replaced everything,..honestly, like new, it was REBUILT by BILL KEENER,....a race car fabricator that worked at Ford part time....anyways,..it took 3 months, and $15,000 in insurance receipts....and NOTHING SHOWED UP ON CARFAX....ever.

Careful bro..I wouldnt always trust that thing.

Brutal.

I'll be in the market for a new V , but only after I've saved a few more nickels.

Unfortunately, while I generally purchase cars used after someone else has taken the depreciation hit, the V is one that I'll need to own from the get go.

I don't think there are many V owners who take it easy on their rides, many do run them hard but keep them clean, as opposed to your experience, but they are probably all run pretty hard as opposed to other executive sedans coming off leases.

Hopefully you'll find something local soon!

The tranny rattles and clunks on all of our V's.
The motor does vibrate the whole car, including your ass.
Not sure what made the motor sound bad but mine makes sweet music!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I certainly wouldn't take one with so many interior imperfections. Hang in there, I'm sure you'll find your V soon!

I was going to say the same thing. If my V clunked like it does when I first picked it up, I'd swear something was wrong. As forthe cell phone antenna, it is an '04, right? Every '04 had a big square XM antenna and a seperate mast antenna attached to the rear window for Onstar.

But for the filth and bald tires, yeah, I'd be pissed too.
