maybe paranoid but thats what i got you guys for....

I hear a minor whining noise when accelerating but not too loud and i dont seem to hear it when the windows are down, only up???

how does a bad differential sound? how loud? is it a definate theres a problem noise or just one of those bad louder than normal road noises?

please inform me so i know what to look for...

I've been hearing a slight clunk back there when leaving my driveway when the car is cold. No oil yet on the garage floor tho.... I feel like i'm kinda just waiting for it... sad eh?

I talked with a Caddy mechanic and a service writer this past week. Both told me to drive the CTS in reverse and turn the steering wheel (to the right??; I forget the direction.)

If you hear chattering, then you know you have a problem.

No. The only time i ever hear/feel anything is making the sharp right turn out my my driveway when the car is cold. Its not really loud, ide say most people wouldnt even notice it, but its there.

Right around 40 to 45 MPH you will hear a whine in the rear, I had this and the diff was replaced about a year ago. Last week I had a leak that had to be addressed by the dealer.
