I figured out a Fast, easy and inexpensive 04-07 CTS-V differential bushing repair with a polyurethane bushing. Energy Suspension makes leaf spring bushing kits and one of them works fine. The part number is 3.2125. You can order it right from their website at http://energysuspension.com/index.htm . It is used for older Chevy pickup leaf springs. You can get them red or black. The outer diameter is 1.750 and will fit nicely with the stock bushing outer race still in place. They are longer than needed so they need to be trimmed. You use two shackle bushings which you need to cut down so each one is 1.2 inches. The center metal sleeve needs to be cut down to 2.4 inches. There are four bushings and two metal sleeves in the kit so you will be able to do a friend's diff bushings too from the one kit.
How to install: Unbolt the drive shaft from the rear and leave it laying on the exhaust. Unbolt the front diff bushing bolt and loosen the rear right bolt until it is almost out. Drop the diff and remove the inner section of the front diff bushing. Insert the two cut down bushings in the race that remained with one pushed in from the front and one pushed in from the rear. Insert the cut down metal sleeve. Bolt it all back together. Use blue thread locker on the driveshaft bolts.
That easy. I did it in an hour and a half. She is nice and tight.

Com[e ]on man, with a thread like this, how do you not have a single picture?
What do you need a picture of?

Nice discovery! I've already got a poly bushing in there, but I'm sure others will find this very helpful.

That, and the poly bushing is a significant upgrade from the soft rubber.
AND you do not have to try and remove the old bushing outer-race that got stuck on this guy during his servicing:

So I have located the "Universal Kit" from Energy Suspension, but there are 2: 9.9488 & 9.9484. The difference is the center bolt size (9/16 vs 5/8 respectively).

Anyone know the bolt size for that bushing?

I will be doing this install within the next few weekends and will measure and order the correct set... and update here.

This makes a lot of sense. The original poster seems to have disappeared so I guess he won't be telling us how this is holding up but there's no reason I can think of why leaving the factory outer bushing race in place would be a problem in the long run.

Anyone have the ID of the outer bushing race????

Probably but it would also compromise the integrity of the bushing...I had a guy do my revshift dif bush, and it took him about an hr and a half..made a write up from here look long..lol..don't compromise the rearend to save money..do it right!
