Has the filter hole size been changed for a reason?

I measure a WIX 3675XL hole 19.22 mm, AC Delco PF61E hole 19.52 mm

My 2003 STS takes the WIX, my 2006 STS won't ( WIX hole too small),

What does the "threaded insert" description mean for the AC Delco PF 61E. All filtered appear to be threaded similarly

Which engine does the 2006 have?

A 2003 Northstar takes a WIX 51522. No idea what a 2006 Northstar takes. RockAuto????

Oil filters use either a 13/16" thread or 3/4". Both thread sizes are common in oil filters.

Look in the catalogs, use the correct filter. Get into the filter manufacturer white papers and look up the specs. Curiously, oil filter tapping plate threads have remained SAE instead of going metric.

Here's a WIX for my 2002 STS - the HP2 is used in my Olds 455 marine engine conversions.

Rock Auto shows AC Delco PF61E for both 2003 and 2006 Cadillac STS. The AC Delco UPF61R listed for 2003 info page shows fitment for only 2005-2010 ! Their listings for Fram and others do not list the same filters for 2003 and 2006. I think the block fitting central threaded pipes are different size
