Different Front Coil Springs on 2000 than 2002-05?

Been trying to track down why our 2000 base deville has never driven as smooth as the 2004 base model I once rented.

The 00 model we purchased had only 19k on it when we got it, so I knew the suspension shouldn't be worn out by then.

The front struts are the same part # from 00 to 05 for the FE1 soft ride suspension, so that shouldn't matter.
But today, I just happened to check the coil spring part #s and to my surprise, the 02-05 base/dhs models is different than the 00-01 base/dhs!

Does anyone have any info on this?
Can the newer front coils be used on the 2000 model?
Is there a wire diameter difference? a height difference?

Oddly enough the 2000 model coil is nearly twice as much as the 02-05 coil.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I own both a 2000 & 2002 Base model Deville and have never noticed a difference in ride quality between the two.
That's not good news for me. That means something is screwey with my suspension.
Still don't understand the coil change from 01 to 02.
Might go down to stealership parts counter this week to see both side by side.
Planned on replacing the struts & coils myself anyway, would like to use the newer coils if at all possible. The ride around town is awful. Ridges in road, manhole cover dips, tiny potholes all give a horrible jarring sensation.
Very un-Cadillac ride...now at 55k miles.

That is odd... just looked the coil springs up on Rock Auto and both the OEM and aftermarket springs are different part numbers from 00 to 02. Let us know what you find out at the stealership.

I have never experienced the non-Cadillac ride that you describe in either of my Devilles. I can fly over the RR tracks in my 2000 and it's like riding on a cloud. FYI my 2000 has 75,000 miles on her.
