I know I'm going to catch hell for this but.....
There's probably nobody here LESS likely to agree with HRS or defend him, but as far as the thread being talked about here, I think HRS is correct. I read the whole thread and don't see anything where he was either wrong OR out of line in his posts. Matter of fact, I found myself wondering why he was being so uncharacteristically mild mannered. Maybe I missed something here but it seems like he's getting dis'd for no reason here.
Alright, go ahead, let me have it. :hide:

I don't know Ralph, I hate to say it but HRS makes some good points. The best of which is probably the issue of getting the cars US certified. It was a fairly costly issue with the GTO and it still isn't 100% done. Perfect case in point would be trunk volume of the GTO. You ever look into one? There is no trunk. You'd have a hard time fitting an overnight bag in one! The reason is the gas tank. It had to be repositioned in order to get certified. Unfortunately, without doing some MAJOR re-engineering of the platform, the only place for the tank was basically in the trunk! Bummer.
There's no doubt that the UAW does, and will continue to take a dim view of any car company importing vehicles for sale here since it does take jobs away from their members. While I share your opinions of the unions in general, the issue can't be so easily written off.
It's true about the gas tank issue, but if you're selling a certain type of car (i.e., performance car) for a certain type of buyer, that's not such a gigantic problem. Especially at the small initial volumes that Holdens would be selling at. That's also why I doubt the UAW would care too much about a few thousand Aussie imports.

HotRod is obviously restraining himself. I hope he doesn't have a brain aneurysm.

And Elvis and Sal, you argue like pussie$. :shhh:

HRS OWNED!

In post #27 I caught him in complete contradiction and he made no sense here, and my arguement is sound. In reality, it certainly could work and GM actually proved it could in the past with Opel, etc. :)

When he knows he's beat and has a lack of information and logic on a subject, he simply says "not worth arguing, is it?"

He asked and I answered EVERY one of his questions!

i recall the UAW problem as well:

Also, sorry Ralph, but your argument is not "sound". the cost to bring Holden here would be more in the ballpark of the hundreds of millions. Plus, Holdens dont sell well here. GTO's dont, and Cateras didnt.

Lets just let that thread go, its only gonna escalate. Im not gonna post any of this stuff in there, because it will just make it worse

Well, for the union to whine over a measily 20,000 cars that would make money for GM is pretty petty indeed. I never did respect the union, and that seems to confirm it with me. (Bretts links)

Like I said, I'm glad I was able to answer all his questions that were designed to "throw me."
