Is there any difference between a OBD2 scantool and the car scantool?

i am not positive, but i believe the obdII can reset more than the car can...

does that mean that there is no difference between the scantool from the car and a regular scantool i mean i will get the same codes anyways?

The car's only worked on the 03 and the 04, after that, you need the OBDII tool.

My obd2 tool is a low end one and it works on every car perfect except my 03...but I only tried it once...ill have to try again.
I have the "can obd2" it only has 3 buTtons but you can plug it into a laptop and do more with it, I just never loaded the program yet
