Rough morning starts need Help!!!

Whats up guys I just purchased a '91 coupe deville 4.9L in mint condition. 115k miles, engine immaculate. Car has been sitting for 2 months though. I've had it for 2 days now and the last 2 nights it has been getting kind of cold out, in the morning it's like the car will struggle to start I have to press the accelerator as i turn the key and hold it down gently for like 10-15 secs to keep the car to started. Then the car runs perfect, great running car, when it warms and has been off for say 2-3 hours it starts up fine. I told the owner the prob he thinks between it sitting for 2 months it could be the gas or just the cold weather. What could this be? The car runs great doesnt seem to need a tune up, doesnt want to stall out ever while driving or at lights. I put STP gas treatment in last night still haven't went through that tank yet. Should i give it another morning and see if it does the same thing or wait for the gas treatment to run thru or do i have a big prob on my hands? Service engine soon light also has come on. Going to get that checked tomorrow. Anyone had this problem or can give me any advice? Thanks alot.

Re: Rough morning starts need Help!!!

Id still do the tuneup ....the plug gap may be a little excessive by now in the milage , which can cause it to start a little harder ....

Check to make sure the fuel pressure regualtor isnt leaking out of its vaccum nipple , once the engine is started remove the vaccum line from the regualtor and ensure fuel doesnt dribble out.....probably not likely in your case (symptoms arent matching up)

Take the car to a autoparts store and see fi they can check the battery for you ....depending on where you are if its cold enough the battery will get weaker due to temperature , so with a cold morning the battery doesnt make the same output it did in the summer ...which might hurt your cranking speed ....

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

I doubt you have a "big" problem but the SES light will likely tell you what the problem is. Enter the onborad diagnostics and retrieve any stored DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes). Simultaneously press and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons to enter the diagnostics. Be prepared to write them down. Once you have them simply turn off the ignition. You can find the code definitions here http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd1.html or post them and someone will try to help.

Thanks for the help going to do the diagnostics test in the morning and put up the codes. Just came back from taking a ride and heres a new symptom, im going to make a turn at about 15-20 mph, as i go to hit the gas to speed up, it doesnt do nothing, car didnt jerk or buck it just didnt do nothing then all of a sudden it speeded up. Real weird, think its a tuneup?

You where in the middle of the turn (in motion)? How much fuel in the tank? I will venture a guess at less than 1/4 tank. If that is the case, it is probably tank baffles that have come loose, rusted, broken etc. In low fuel conditions fuel now can slosh to one side in a turn, the fuel pump sucks air and the engine starves for fuel.
Fix 1, replace the tank.
Fix 2, keep it above 1/3 tank.

You should keep your updates in the original posts so we can follow what is going on. As I recall, I think your problem was loosing power on turns (tank baffles). I have merged it to the original thread.

P030 (E030) ................................................... ISC RPM out of range
P057 (E057) .......... Shorted 4th Gear Switch Circuit Or Shorted 3-4 Shift Solenoid
P063 (E063) ....................................... Set Vs. Vehicle Speed Difference
P070 (E070) ................................................ Intermittent TPS Signal
Not sure about F48

You can find the code definitions here.

What does e057 mean the car doesnt shift from 3rd to 4th?. Performed a tune-up today. plugs were real dirty car seems to be running a little smoother. Car started up fine all day no struggle but sounds a little funny when started, mechanic thought it sounded like a catalytic converter possibly. Are all these problems the computer showed expensive to fix so I can get this service engine soon light off and get this inspection done. thanks

I know this is A VERY old be post but I wonder if you ever found out what was the problem for your park lights staying on?? I changed the light switch in my 93 DeVille and still no change. Only other thing I can think of is the photocell or either a short in the wiring somewhere. Any help is appreciated! Thanks
