hello a friend of mine has a 98 deville. the trunk wont close. its not the pull down motor because when i touch the small lever by the latch the motor moves up and down. i think its the latch when i hit the trunk open button it doesnt make a click. can i close this with this being broken? im scared to slam it because i dont want to break the pull down motor

Try unlocking it with the key to open the latch, then close it with the pull down.

check the trunk lid latch it might have come loose and is not aligned and tight to shut the hood properly. It happened to me and I only found the problem out of desperation. Bet that's what's wrong. Of course it happened at the most inconvenient time and u can't drive like that. lol! Never leave home without the tools.
