do the 94-95 devilles with the 4.9 v8 need the same special wiring as the devilles with the northstar when installing an after market head unit? it seems like such a hassle to wire the stock stereo up in the trunk.

I think it depends on the stereo more then the engine. They would need whatever the Eldorados and Sevilles from the same year need.

i read somewhere that cadillac started the data bus thing on the radio in 1996. so does that mean u can put in an aftermarket head unit in the 94-95 without any problems?
