Make it RWD and then you can engage AWD, like in Audi Quattros.

Audi isnt exlusively AWD, just in quattro models, which is offered on everything, so you were kind of right.

The Audi's are FWD if they don't have AWD. One of the main differences between AWD and 4WD, is that there is no need to engage it.

I think I read that the upcoming Subaru WRX Sti will let you adjust the bias between front and rear. It's been that way in Japan for a few years. So the Audi may have had a switch like that.
