This is my '92 touring. Had it for a while now and getting annoyed with being stared at where ever I drive this. I have been contemplating tints but I don't want to be flagged as a drug dealer. Friends opinions are divided. Wife says no. There is no going back once this is done. I'm getting consensus here and final decision will be based on you guys. If so, what percentage recommended? Thanks

I would do 35% for a nice smokey look i had 5% limo looks cool but too dark and hard to see thru at night keep it dont worry what people say as long as your happy im from howard beach ny famous sicilian mafia neighborhood and a black on black DTS i drive gets all the looks plus im a realtor so dressed in suits with that car doesnt help just enjoy the car :cool2:

Ah fellow NY'er! It's nice to meet you. I'm originally from Queens and I can totally see you fitting in like a glove in Howard beach. Black on black...very gangster looking car, quite intimidating. haha

I'm really rolling the dice on this one. I'm usually all for the "do what the hell you want" mentality, but this has me on limbo so I'd thought I'd let the cadillac community decide.

Lol, :yeah:

I just had my Seville tinted 2 days ago, 35% all around. I would have gone with 20%, but 35% is the legal limit in MASS. With a light interior, it looks pretty dark, but not BLACK, like 20% would. I'll be satisfied when I swap my black interior in, in the spring.

Neither 35% or 20% are particularly hard to see out at night, unless you're driving somewhere with almost NO road lighting. Many trucks have 20% as stock on all but the front row windows.

Tint on a black car? Absolutely! You'll pay $200 - $300 for high end film, and high end installation. Check your local laws first.

Yeh in NY 70% is the legal limit not that anyone follows it u might as well not have any tint its so light at 70% anyway 35% is a good level and wont attract attention i have never been pulled over for my tint even though its considered ilegal at 35% plus i dont like nosey people looking in my car 20% is a little dark for me i had 5% limo looked good but night time driven aint fun to dark :yup: theres other percents to depends on the brand though good luck

Are they staring at you or your car?
That is one sharp looking Deville.

As Ranger stated, it would depend on the reason people are staring, but for now, I would go with "no tint" for my vote.

That is a very good looking car. No wonder everybody stares at it. They don't make them with that much style any more. In Maine tinted windows will definitely get you checked out by the cops. I would go with the lightest tint because tinted widows do look nice. Maybe in your state the police have real crime to deal with and don't have time to worry about tint. Take care of that survivor.

Thank You for the kind words gentlemen, It's nice to meet people who still appreciate old school Cadillacs.

As for being stared at..you know, I have no idea. Ive asked myself the same question. I live close to downtown seattle, which vehicles primarily comprise of european, japanese or tree hugger econo boxes so I'm assuming an older model deville might be a bit ostentatious and attention grabbing? My wife gets stared at when driving it as well , but she says its mostly older men oogling at her. I have a subaru legacy daily driver that always gets me by unnoticed but I've been using the deville more often as the subaru isn't nearly as comfortable in rush hour traffic.
