I have had really good luck with Diehard batteries, on my mom's car it lasted for 5 years.
You didn't mis-read it. I did mention that I wouldn't buy one but as I said, it's NOT because they're a bad battery. I just hate that they are sealed. I won't buy a battery that can't even be properly tested and serviced.N0DIH said:Just surfing around on a holiday weekend before I go out to work on the brakes (gotta turn my drums on the FW).
Couldn't resist digging up some olds ones!
I did missread it that you won't buy one. I would prefer a open cell batt myself (I have recovered batteries with some distilled water and saved me the headache, not to mention protecting the environment by not dumping more lead off to be recycled, keep it in use), but with the long life on the couple AC Delco's I have had, they do seem to be good batteries. I think the Autozone ones suck, they don't last in my experience. My last AC Delco (other than was came in my 94 FWB) was in the mid to late 90's.
In the Army we used to rebuild them overseas, but in the US they all were farmed out to Exide.
America is the definition of a "throw away society." :annoyed: You have to pay more usually to get higher quality goods. The Ape Man said:It's the old "throw away" idea. If the batt needs anything then just get another one. This has been applied to TV sets and many other goods.
I always had excellent service from Interstate batteries. Also liked Delco. Had several Exides let me down.
