Can any dealers or others with insight here confirm or get more information on a 120 day delay on accepting orders for the 2016 CTS with the new LGX V6 engine?

That's what my dealer is apparently being told, but there's been no update in a month and Cadillac customer service knows nothing about it.

Typical GM. I thought this was the NEW Cadillac, at the price/quality level of Mercedes, BMW........ same old, same old.

My guess is either the new engine isn't fully ready yet and/or
they only want a limited number of them going to dealers, as
general stock for test drives, etc.

I think Cadillac doesn't want customers to order a car then have
to sit and wait long if there is a V6 delay or initial problems that
delay the cars.

Given the issues with oil consumption and the timing chain stretching on the early 3.6, I would think they want to be as certain as possible that they have the bugs shaken out.

If you ask me, this is the new GM. The old GM would have rushed the engine out to get the sales only to deal with quality issues on the back end. While it may be frustrating for customers who want to order a new car, they would be even more frustrated with at poor product.

I make my living in software development. I firmly believe that the disappointment in delaying a software implementation in order to address defects will eventually be forgotten compared to the long lasting bad taste people will have when given a product that is lacking in quality.

Get it right the first time. You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression.

Anyone who believes what the salesman told them as gospel, is my kind of guy for this bridge I have to sell, at a 50% discount, just today. That's the reason GM customer service has no idea about it, because it is not based in any facts.

Well, actually, Greyghost, they shared with me a series of emails with GM and Cadillac in which the NE Distribution Specialist says, "To my knowledge the 3.6L is a planned delay to minimize build variations at the plant for 2016 MY start up. Will have to see if I can get a projected date of availability."
