Dear Cadillac,
I just thought i'd take a moment and share something with you. Nobody likes the Saffron interior, and even if they would not get it themselves everybody likes the Morello Red.
I just placed a special order for an ATS-V and as i was going over the options here is what came out of the customers mouth...and i quote..."What the hell?", this is the 5th time i heard that this week when the ATS-V comes up......
It is not a flattering color and clashes with every exterior color except black. There was a point last year where every other silver ATS we sold was flying off the lot with Morello Red, on the other hand I have ordered or have been asked to get Saffron exactly ZERO times. As a matter of fact our V interior take rate was approximately 90% Ebony Black, 9.99% Titanium gray and .01% Saffron. Here's the story about that lone Saffron spec'd car, it was an event car we got from Cadillac when they were done displaying it at a show, it was a Chrystal Red V-Coupe with Saffron in other words Fuggly and it sat for a while. Fortunately there is a phenomenon in the car biz called discounting and another phenomenon called "there is an ass for every seat" this second one is similar to the phenomenon of scary looking people you see at the county fair who managed to find someone to love their scariness. This red Coupe is one of only 2 saffron equiped V-Coupes that i have ever seen (the other was Thunder Gray/Saffron Fuggly #2 and also a GM event car)
it's plain to see someone at Cadillac is in love with this color, because they keep ordering it to display at car shows, AND they thought it was a good idea to give saffron a second life in the ATS-V and in doing so bypassing a popular and fitting potential V color with the red.
in my opinion this person is probably well meaning but needs a reassignment, not trying to be mean but the color challenged ought not to be picking colors. sounds harsh but having an interior on the books takes effort and resources and i quite literally have had no one want it at all i thinks it's time to move on.
thanks,
POW
