Dealer Installed Dash Cam - 2023 Sport Platinum

Check out the install on my brand new 2023 Sport Platinum. It was ordered through the Cadillac website when I purchased the SUV. They charged $175 for the install. I took it to another Cadillac dealer and they said there was nothing they could do. This was how it was supposed to look. If I had a problem I should take it to a car stereo shop LOL

Miracle Cadillac of Kutztown (Installation) Cadillac of Jackson (closest local Cadillac store)
I followed up with Cadillac of Jackson and they asked if I wanted to see if the DPSM would help. I said I didn't understand why it needed to go to that level but sure, let him/her know and get back to me.
I'm leaving for a family vacation tomorrow so I'm going to try Dimmitt Cadillac in Clearwater when I get to Florida. I hate seeing all the exposed wires and just want it tucked correctly.

This is my first Cadillac and I'm really disappointed with the experience: Dash cam installation, no gas on pickup, PDI was rushed and sloppy, etc... Hopefully third time is the charm...

On a positive note, the store where I picked up the Escalade ordered regular lug nuts to replace the wheel locks when I inquired about buying them. I offered to pay but they said they're in the mail and should arrive in a few days.

If you get stuck autozone sells an emergency wheel lock removal kit that will remove any wheel lock. You could use the same item to put back the wheel lock as well.

They could've popped the plastic piece off from under the rear view mirror to hide it better and made it a little cleaner install but believe it or not, that's about how its installed according to the instructions. Not much can be done with the rear, you need to leave enough slack so the trunk opens. I did the same install on my own and it turned out similar:

Did they actually charge you for this? Sad. the rear tailgate I understand - not much they can to when that gate goes up and down. that front, however, that front...you have to look at it everytime you drive. Sad.

I appreciate all the comments. Many confirm what I was thinking.

Years ago I installed mobile audio and hard wired radar/laser detectors. I know what needs to be done to clean it up and it's not that difficult with the right trim tools.

I wanted to install it myself but I was informed that the Cadillac store would need to do it for the 4/50 warranty. If the next dealer doesn't correct it, I'll do it, but... for a $122k vehicle....I shouldn't have to...

Miracle Cadillac sent me the installation instructions in a PDF. They are really basic and I could see how someone with zero experience installing a dash cam would have an issue. However, it does say to remove the trim and to route the cables. If you know what you're doing, that should be enough.
Dimmitt Cadillac in Clearwater had my Escalade for almost two hours this morning and cleaned up the wiring by routing it mostly correct behind the trim.

I spoke with the Tech that did the work and he was extremely knowledgeable. I also spoke with the service advisor, shop foreman, and GM. They all made me feel like a valued customer.

This experience was stellar and makes me wish I still lived in Clearwater. They met my expectations for a premium brand with flying colors. I forgot to get pics but I'll grab some tomorrow.

Glad they did it correctly...the second time, after you complained.

The Dimmitt tech routed the cables through the front trim cutouts and into the rear conduit. Looks a lot better.

The rear camera will need to be adjusted. I didn't realize it at the time, but opening the upper window/hatch causes the cable to pull out of the camera because it doesn't have enough slack. It bent the micro-USB connector but the camera is still working.

The dash cam is a Thinkware DC-M2-FG. It can't get a GPS signal through the windshield so they recommend an external GPS receiver. There's an open port to plug one in. More wires....

That’s pretty clean. Very similar to how CarToys did mine. Looks much better than the other shop’s work for sure. Congrats!
