Hello,
new to ATS 2.0T here.
i want to install my dash cam that will run 24/7. i have a bypass that can put a timer to it to shut off after certain hrs.

I assume the fuse box is located under driver's side dash. Which fuse is the best to use for this application? cig lighter? heated seat fuse? or something else?

One other thing is would dash cam and radar detector be running on 5A, 10A, or 15A??

Thanks

The question was also asked here but not definitively answered

Here is link to a video of where the fuse panel is on the right side dash.

Mine is hooked up to the steering wheel heat fuse but that is switched with the ignition which works for my needs. My rear cam is connected to the rear power (cigarette lighter) outlet and that one shuts off when the door is opened or after about ten minutes if not opened. Finding an always on fuse might be a trick if you have to wait until the master controller shuts everything else down. Good luck and let us know if you find success. Apparently you're not the only one.

my bmw was like that where it would shut everything down after 10 minutes or so.
i can't remember where i hooked it up. maybe didn't run 24/7
But i'm guessing if there's no such fuse exist that run 24/7, i could direct wire it to battery. Multi Safer moto park should be able to turn dashcam off when after certain time or if it reaches lower voltage.

Do you remember which amp heated steering fuse is? i might hook Radar detector there.

The steering wheel fuse was 7.5 amps and I just threw another in there, not because the dashcam would even need one amp, especially after the 5V adapter, but because I had another 7.5 amp fuse and I figured my bigger concern was a wire rubbing through somewhere resulting in dead short.

Also check your fuse diagram on the cover. Apparently they have a habit of moving things around from year to year. (And I forgot about all of those painfully tempting, but apparently useless, empty fuse slots)

you have so many empty fuse slots haha on my other car, i just wrapped the exposed wire around one of the legs on the fuse. It doesn't come lose. this has worked for me and many others. never had a problem with a wire rubbing on somewhere and messing things up.

After checking things out with a volt meter, that center row in the fuse box, that isn't being used, is hot 24/7. That would be good place to connect if you want to power up things with the car off.

Can someone tell me which slot would be good to hook up ACC ? The one that turns on when car is on but still bypass stop/start feature.
