I'm curious to hear the thoughts on this here. Suppose someone comes across a hearse in bad shape and rather than scrap it one decides to cut it up into a pickup and weld in a partition. A flower car would be ideal, but this would allow for 4 doors and would be cheap.

Would this be a good idea, or a bad idea. Any reasons?

Thanks.

I have one in 'bad shape'. Frame is totally gone so make sure you check that first before spending any time welding anything in. As far as a conversion, anything goes as I've seen them turned into limos as well.

George Barris did some very righteous work on Cadillac hearses ...... go for it.

A friend of mine Pat, who quite a few of us know that have wagons from the wagon forum, converted a Roadmaster wagon. May I present the Ratmaster:

It's a fun car; very well done and not a hack job like some that are around.

Hearses are not that strong with a top on. Cut it off and it will just get weaker. Plus not all hearses are equal. The quality between coach builders can be very different and depends on when these hearses are built.

The frame rails could be boxed for more strength.
Really depends on the amount of time and money you want to spend.
