After months of looking at CTS-V and deciding that it would not really be a car for me because of Cadillac's lack of addressing major problems. I decided to buy an 06 STI. Well it finally happened, I met up with an CTS-V Wed. night. The CTS-V was black and very nice looking. My STI just went over 1000 miles break in and I was ready to really she what she could do. The driver of the CTS-V had either his GF or wife with him. As I pulled up next to him and he looked over at me, he just laughted. He raced his motor and I nodded back to him. The light turned green and I had a great launch. I could here him wheel hopping, when I grabbed 2nd I had him by almost 2 car lenghts. When I grabbed 4th nothing really changed and a red light was fastly approaching. When he pulled along side of me he asked if I was stock and I said yes, just finished breaking her in. He said to bad we didn't have more room he was starting to catch up. I would guess from light to light was a little over 1/4 mile. I said lets go again, the next light was about twice as far as the previous run. He paused for a second, his GF/wife said something to him and he said, no thanks and said, nice car. I said the same and also said, I know a little about CTS-V's and if you take care of that wheelhop, it would have been a really close race. It was a really good looking car. I really wish Cadillac would address these issue, I would buy one in a heartbeat. The STI is a pure, raw sportscar and I have had a ton of fun with it so far.
No flames please, I really feel the V is an awesome car and I would have one in my garage if Caddy would listen to their customers. Spending 50K on a V, vs. 33K on the STI, I will be the first to admit the V is a more refined car, interior, seats, sound system etc..Performace wise, the V really doesn't have anything over the STI. They are very different cars and are at the top of their respected classes.
