CTS-V tires

to my pleasure I found out that my 3 day old 05 CTS-V w/ 9k miles is eligible for a free set of tires because of the F1 runflats being junk. They have Toyo Proxy 4s in stock and they look good. What has been a good replacement tire for the V? It obviously needs something that hooks and lasts.

Michelin PS2. Falken RT615(in 255/40, they do not come stock). Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R. Bridgestone Potenza RE05A RFT.

That is all.
BigJim knows his tires.

No love for the RFT GSD3s though? Interesting. :)

I just haven't heard back from someone daring enough to try them...

And they run funkin' wide!!!
I had the same problem with my RF tires.

Goodyear replaced them with Eagle GS D3's NON runflats for a few bucks. I replaced them with the same size.

The GS D3's are great for everything but snow and ice. The traction and handling is great!
I also bought a much cheaper tire and mounted it onto a wheel as a spare. It fit very nicely into the spare tire wheel well in the trunk. Also bought a portable aluminium jack at Hershey. No problems.
I'm running Michelin PS2's (stock size) and they are great. My original runflats were replaced with GS-D3's, in my opinion they are crap. I have been known to push the car to the limit and the GS-D3's limit is easily exceeded. Original F1's wore out in 13,000 miles and the GS-D3's wore out in 15,000 miles. I don't like to break the rear tires loose whitch was easy with the F1's and GS-D3's, it's not so easy with the PS2's. I love these tires, worth every penny.

What's teh story on F1 replacements? Is it a TSB? This is the first I've heard and would love to get in on this deal if I can?

they are replaced by Goodyear Warranty...take them to an authorized Goodyear Dealer and they'll make a call and tell you what they can do. My particular ones were covered 50% (50% of life not gained) and 50% of what those runflat F1s cost will get you most any reg. tire.
I just ordered a set of GS D3 Run flats (255s) to replace my stock F1 Run Flats. I loved the original tires and could have lived with the high cost/low mileage problems - but it rains often here in Houston. I am anxious to see whether the Run Flat feature will reduce/eliminate the reported GS D3 soft sidewall issue. I will report results later.

Very nice. I was wondering when someone was going to try the GS-D3 runflat.
I just put on the Azena's Wednesday and they hold the power my stroker is making. Nice tire for the money.

What size did you order? The EMT's do not come in the stock size, did you decide to go with 255/45-18? The GS-D3's I had were the stock size and were non runflats.

Ewww...

I think 245/40 is a better choice. For those that want to run wide in back, a 245/40 F 275/35 R is like 245/45 275/40 but just a little bit smaller in rolling diameter.
