I mis-read the thread title also, until I watched the video.

Cool car. Not a looker, but def gets the job done.

How pathetic is that? A guy had to put a 15 yr old engine into his brand new $40,000 car to get any kind of performance out of it. GM should be ashamed of themselves for this. The CTS is patheticly under powered and GM knows it. What do they do for us loyal owners? They refuse to help create a way to upgrade the performance issues with a VERY hightech engine capable of so much more. The Aussies have gotten more help than anyone to break through the GM idiocy. I raced Chevy for years and years. Chevy made it easy to build and upgrade anything. What happened to this ideal? Low 11's with a fifteen yr old engine? That's awesome! What could the 3.6 do if punched/unleashed and turboed? 10.99? Not one mag or critic or enthusiast has ever been even close to pleased with the performance of the CTS. GM. You should be ashamed here. I guess everyone should junk their CTS and buy a new one right? So we can have decent power with zero chance of upgrading it too?

Has anyone driven a low 11 car? Let me tell you this. Low 11's is damn fast for a street car. DAMN fast! A four door car not stripped out and a/c blowing, 11 seconds? WOW! I had camaros, chevelles on NOS, I freakin' drove a shit load of drag cars. Only one (other than our dragster) ran under 12's. Low 11's will stomp on just about any street car out there unless VERY well built.

He's put V brakes and wheels on since I've last seen it... Cool
Youre right for the most part sharp. I always said they should make at least 320 out of the DI 3.6 then bump up the northstar to like 350 to keep things in contrast.

However, with a brand new engine it takes time to get the go fast mods out. Lots of boost is entirely possible now that the ECU can and has been tuned (see my sig).

I think that the 3.6 has a VERY bright future. I look forward to making mine go very fast in the future. I will probably keep this car FOREVER.

Jay thanks for the vid! I have always wanted to see that thing run. THAT IS SICK!!:eek::worship::highfive:
I saw a normally aspirated, non-supercharged, V6 Buick that ran in the low 9s. The fastest lap turned on a super speedway in NASCAR in the restrictor plate era is by a Busch series Buick. Buick quit NASCAR when Bill France wouldn't let them run the V6 in Winston Cup. V6 Buicks have earned everything they've got. If you plan on challenging them you better have something good. Chevrolet used a V6 Buick in their Corvette GTP. It was known to put out nearly 1200HP.

I wonder why they can't give it away.
It's a good thing you guys didn't live out the mid 70's to mid 80's. You all would have jumped off a bridge. To say the 3.6 CTS is a poor performer is cruel. I had a brand new 230 HP 1985 Corvette whose performance numbers are almost dead even with my 2006 CTS. Hell the top dog Corvette of 1976 had 205 HP. Yo guys don't know how great these current times are. Enjoy them cause I think they're gonna go away again.

I'm afraid you're right. The 3.6L engine is a tiny thing. It's a fact of life that you increase HP by narrowing the power band and putting the peak higher up the RPM scale. Eventually you have a buzzy little devil that requires a 16 speed transmission. It is what it is.

Look at what the Grand National did back then...You're telling me with the tech features the 3.6 has it can't be made to scream? WTF? Why doesn't GM get behind it and see what she can do? Turbo it and open her up and try different tunes and let 'er out...GM got completely behind racing that pos cobalt or whatever it was trying to dethrone the dodge neon. I'm pissed at GM

I swear if I get the time and money one of these days I'm gonna ramp mine out...if GM would get with the program. The thing is gonna need rod bolts/pistons/billet crank/rods?/pins/head bolts/gaskets/can it be punched? how much?/oil pan/oil pump/injectors/headers/tranny/rearend/driveline/ not to mention all the shit you gotta just plain make to run the turbo/turbos...
