Actually it was a "driving school", the R word was not allowed...

This weekend at putnam park, SW of indy, there as a BMW owners club sort of thing at this track...

The finanace manager for Lockhart cadillac is a huge fan, and they paid him to drive the CTS-V out on this course, in hopes of maybe converting a few of the BMW owners.....

The CTSV is a hell of a car, the suede is a nice touch, i though.. Very nice car, great engine...... However, we had the infamous oil problem..... The light came on, and even if it wasnt a problem, it was dinging so much he couldnt concentrate, so he had to run about 15mins at a time, shut it off and let it cool down...... Which IMO it didnt do a very good job in converting BMW owners!!!! Oh well, I think he'll be racing it again sometime soon...

I will post pictures of this event tomorrow......

FYI... This was a NICO meet..... While we were there, one of the guys talked one on one (at some point in time) with one of the head engineers for the CTSv... He said just by removing the stock intake (ULTRA RESTRICITVE) and the rear resonator it makes 450HP EASY!!!!

They were also talking about the new STS, which will be offered wiht a supercharged V8, possibly AWD......

To get rid of the resonator, one could have an exhaust shop cut it off and put straight pipes (or a x-pipe) in place of it or the other option is wait for an aftermarket exhaust to hit the market like Borla, Corsa, B&B, etc.

If it's the resonator I'm thinking of there is only one. It's roughly 2 and 1/2 feet long by 9 inches wide. I believe there is also "gas mixing" which is never good. I'm not sure that the Corsa piece addresses that or not. Here's a pix of the resonator.

I have an order in on the Corsa, it's cat-back so I am not sure whether it solves that problem also. Here's a photo of it, and I will let everyone know once mine is in place next week.

Can't really get a good look at whether it takes out the resonator.

I guess we'll find out if changing the intake and exhaust creates 50 ponies, since that's exactly what I am doing. Hopefully it's not just GM being boisterous, though I have a suspicion I'll see no more than 30hp tops when both mods are done.

This was a engineer that worked on the design, id trust it.....

I mean look how restrictive the intake is, its phenominal... The airbox is about the size I see on 4 cylinders!!!!!!

If the Corsa system is in fact a "cat back" that will definitely address the resonators. The cats on the V are located right after the exhaust manifolds and before the resonator. I'm anxious to see/hear the system. A rep' from Corsa was on here talking about the db's and said it was louder, but not teeth rattlin'.

From what More Performance has said and with what I know Corsa can do, we are easily looking at 450 hp at the flywheel. Should see some dyno's in this range:

BASE RWHP - 320/330hp
MP CAI - +20hp
Tune - +10hp
Corsa - +15/20hp
Headers - +10/15hp
Total = 375/395 rwhp

Serious fun.

Headers? Who makes those? :lildevil:

I'll post slips after the pieces go on, should be pretty easy to see the difference. If I was a true retentive I'd make him dyno after each piece, but maybe we'll dyno after the airbox first just to see if MP is telling the truth, since that thing is pretty much bolt on.

He said he got the software last week for the V (don't think you included the computer in that equation), not sure I'll have him dyno tune the thing yet, since I am going to be doing more work in the near future (it's $325 a pop, seems dumb to do it multiple times).
