The November issue of Hot Rod, page 31, notes the STS-V lapping Nurburing at 8min, 30 sec. The new Z06 did 7min, 46 sec, which is the second fastest time for any production car.
By way of comparison, the Nov. issue of Automobile, pages 34-35 notes a Porsche Cayman S lap time of 8 min, 20 sec and a 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera at 8 min, 15 sec.
Anyone out there know what the lap times were for the CTS-V?

The Sept 2003 CTS-V review in Automobile Magazine states that John Heinricy, Director of GM's Performance Division, went around Ring in 8 minutes 19 seconds, "which is better than the current M3 has managed to do".

The Automobile driver did it in "less than 9 minutes", just 4 seconds shy of their best time in a pre-993 Porsche 911, the RS 3.8.

I doubt that John Heinricy's time is the official GM time, though.

John Heinricy is a darn good driver as proven by his SCCA and Speed GT World Challenge results. Even if GM brought in some high buck professional driver, I wouldn't doubt that John could set the fastest lap time in one of GM's cars.
