Does anyone have suggestions for some additional horsepower or what are you considering if anything. She is pretty darn nice bone stock. However, since HP is like sex and money where you can never have too much, I would like to add another 30-50 if it is simple enough. I guess I am just greedy.:lildevil:

I don't wish to consider major engine surgery but would like to know if there are simple bolt on performance enhancements for the LS6 in general and for the LS6 in the CTS-V specifically.

Also, I think I am sick :bonkers: ................I just slipped down to the garage in my skivies simply to sit in my car :tisk: ...................................... Thank goodness the wife didn't catch me :rant2: ........she would think I'm psycho but the more I drive it the more I love it :bouncy: .

Thanks in advance

So far only the Z06 LS6 MAF will cross over nicely, $300 for about 3hp. Soon we will see some cold air intake and exhuast systems available. Other than a chip/re-program and those mods - you'll prolly have to crack open the engine to get much more (or force induction).

There's a post on LS1TECH.com regarding a cold air intake. Supposedly adds 20 dyno proven hp.

Hang out for a while. Patience will win out. Believe me the performance guys are working to figure out the best mods. The V presents a few challenges that are different from a Z06 vette. Some of the best tuners are just now getting cars. You won't need to wait long.

Since an engine is really just an air pump, start with more free flow in the intakes, then go to the exhaust. A more open airbox will give some HP, as with the LS1, and there will probably be parts available soon so the throttle openings are bigger or whatever. The problem with some of these things is that the computer will sense them and then compensate. On the exhaust side, soon it should be possible to start with headers, four into two, two into one, and use free flow cats. A corsa exhaust system is already starting to be available. MTI and More performance both do some porting and CNC work on the heads which would be applicable. It wouldn't be hard to get to 475 HP. Probaby require a cam though if you want that much. GM High Performance Mag has articles on this stuff all the time for the Camero and Corvettee owners
I'm no expert, but perhaps this is helpful.

Why focus on adding hp when V-owners should be concentrating on getting the 400hp to connect with the road first! (ehem--wheel hop) !!
Actually, I'd suggest spending the money on a different sort of 'getting the 400hp to connect with the road'.

Track school.

The fact is that in stock form the car is a whole lot faster than 99% of its drivers. This is true of most 'high-performance' cars.

You - that is, as the driver - will get a lot more out of spending some time on a road course, with an instructor at first, than you ever will out of pumping more HP into the car.

This is especially true because the CTS-V, unlike a lot of big-motor production vehicles, actually seems to come with enough brake for track use.

Unfortunately mine will probably never see a track, 1/4 mile or road course. The CAI adding 20 ponies or 30 with tune is just for fun. The wheel hop aside, any HP gained will be used liberally acrossed the rev range in my case. As for the car being faster than the driver, I believe I would fall into the 1%. Raced shifter carts for 3 years and 1/4 from 18 to 22 yrs. old. I can handle the V fine. It's everyone else I'm worried about.
