CTS Taxi - Feeling Dissed or Flattered???

I was in a small town of about 10,000 over the week end - a town called Ojai, about 80 miles north of LA. Anyway, I was in Starbucks reading when I happened to look up and saw a cab that was a CTS!! I took a pic with my phone. When I saw it ,I was like, damn, no freaking way...WTF, now we've been downgraded to Chevy Caprice Classics or Ford LTDs? I know they use Mercedes for cabs in Germany, yadda yadda yadda, but how do you guys and gals feel about this? I feel a little dissed....so much for entry level luxury....I know, get over it, but still, a cab?? I wonder if they had a whole fleet or it was one of those deals where you just bring whatever car you drive and we'll paint the words TAXI and you are good to go....

Would have been cool if it was one of those NYC livery type towncars, all black and classy.

This just seems wrong, at least it wasn't yellow!
Not a very good choice for a taxi given the lack of rear seat legroom and trunk space. A DTS or SRX would be a better choice.

Lack of rear trunk space? Are you kidding??? I bought my CTS in large part due to the fact that the trunk is massive and easily accomodate boxes that measure 36"x24"x24". Try that in a 3-series BMW, Lesus IS, etc.

As for the CTS taxi, "When you absolutely, positively, have to get there as quickly as possible!" to paraphrase the great Samuel L. Jackson. Hey, as long as the cabbie has short legs and knows how to throw it through corners I would take the CTS taxi to the airport over a Caprice or LTD if I was running late.
He's gotta pay for his CTS somehow, drives a couple people around takes off the magnet stickers, sign and cruises.
sometimes people take their personal vehicles and use them once they obtain their taxi driver license. It's not legal in most cities, eg NY, Boston, SF.
